We are dedicated to helping non-profits and social entrepreneurs find top talent at a reasonable cost.

Do you work for a non-profit organization?  Are you needing support around a critical hire?  Have you posted, tapped your network and do you feel that you are not attracting the strongest candidates?

We can help in a short amount of time, and at a reasonable cost.  Many non-profits believe their only option is to pay a large retained search fee to a search firm.  We can complete searches faster than the big firms at a lower cost. Our searches only take 2-3 months, instead of 6+ months. Instead of a large fee, we work by the hour and customize our search services to each organizations needs.  We can do the entire search or just part of the search.

Are you looking for a personal approach to search, with a strong partnership to a firm that shares your values? We are former non-profit direct service (social services) and fundraising professionals.  We have worked in non-profits and understand the cultures and needs of the sector. And because my team and I take on only a few searches at a time, we can often complete searches more efficiently, without compromising quality.

We have a track record of completing 500+ searches for more than 120 leading non-profits and foundations.

Approach

At Sallin Search our approach to recruiting and search differs greatly from other firms.

  • We work on very few searches at a time to ensure we can be responsive to the hiring manager and candidate's needs.

  • We conduct searches with respect and responsiveness to candidates and we make sure the opportunity is a true fit for both sides (Hiring organization and Candidate).

  • Our clients are always thrilled with our work and our retention rates are very high.

In our search practice, we take pride in holding ourselves to a high degree of professionalism, integrity, objectivity, and accuracy. We treat everyone with respect and respond to our clients and all candidates in a timely manner.

When you work with Sallin Search, we deliver a more personal approach. Below is what you can expect when working with us and some of the benefits of working with a Search Consultant or small firm:

●      We specialize in bringing a strong pool of qualified candidates to our clients. We work by the hour, are judicious and efficient with our time, and take great pride in representing our clients and their important missions.

●      We lead with clear communication throughout the process – both to the client and all candidates. We believe in an open, transparent process and everyone will know where things stand/what to expect and when.

●      When we strive for diversity in a search, we are striving to create an applicant pool that includes meaningful differences in identities such as race, ethnicity, gender, economic position, age, neurodiversity, sexual orientation etc. We also ensure its an inclusive process with a focus on equity.

●      A very high percentage (80%+) of our searches are completed in 2-3 months. We have a sense of urgency and communicate with you every step of the way.

●      Clients and candidates are treated with respect and fit is explored in depth to help pave the way for long tenure in the role.

●      Before any outreach, we present some profiles/possible candidates to you to gauge interest - we like to make sure we do not waste any time in the search and are only presenting candidates to you that you would like to interview.

Services And Search Process

We have an extensive network of thousands of non-profit professionals we can reach out to for your search. We are able to reach candidates quickly and find candidates that meet and often exceed the requirements of your role. We find that the average search requires outreach to 200-400 carefully selected potential candidates. We set up short networking calls with any promising candidates to answer their questions and encourage the strongest candidates to apply.

This strategy has proven very effective, and we do not rely on posting to bring in a good pool of candidates. We find networking and outreach on your organization’s behalf is much more effective in bringing in a diverse pool of strong candidates because it targets the most qualified people – many of whom are passive and not even actively looking for a new role.

Search Process Phases:

  1. Search strategy and process planning - typically 1-2 weeks

  2. Recruiting and outreach - typically 4-6 weeks

  3. Screening and interviewing - typically 4-8 weeks

  4. Detailed references checks are conducted and an offer is made
